Contact support ↗Connect App Store Connect
- Open App Store Connect and create a team API key with suitable report access under “Users and Access → Integrations”. Takings supports, for example, “Sales and Reports” or “Finance”. For reviews you need additional matching app permissions.
- Download the private
.p8file and keep it safe. Note your Issuer ID, Key ID and vendor number. You can find the vendor number in the reports area of App Store Connect. - In Takings, open “Settings → Accounts → App Store Connect → Add”. Enter the details and select the key file.
- Use “Check connection” to test access to a report. A report that is not yet available does not confirm access. Then use “Refresh”.
- Under “Settings → Accounts → Load data” you can retrieve older reports that are available. The available periods depend on Apple and your plan.
Private keys stay in the macOS Keychain. Never send us your .p8 file, a Google service account key or any credentials.

Try it without an account
Choose “Keep exploring the demo” on first launch. You can turn on demo mode later under “Settings → General”. The demo uses sample data and also shows the Plus features.
Reports missing or numbers look incomplete?
- Check “Data status” at the bottom of the sidebar. Takings shows the report status for each connection.
- Apple makes daily reports available with a delay. Takings does not show live sales.
- Check your vendor number, Key ID, Issuer ID and your key’s permissions.
- Missing reports and exchange rates appear as a gap or a dash. That does not mean your revenue is zero.
- Active subscriptions, MRR and churn need matching subscription reports. MRR is an estimate; churn requires a complete data basis.
- Under “Settings → Accounts → Load data → Show log” you will find local connection logs. They are cleaned up automatically after seven days.
Notifications not arriving?
Notifications are part of Takings Plus and must be allowed in Takings and in macOS System Settings. The automatic check runs while Takings is open – even if only the menu bar is active. If the app is fully quit, it does not retrieve new reports.
Purchases, restoring and cancelling
Open “Settings → Takings Plus” to see available offers or restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.
You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account’s subscriptions. Removing Takings does not end a subscription. Apple’s purchase support is available for refund requests.
AI features not visible?
On-device AI insights and reply drafts require Takings Plus, macOS 26 and Apple Intelligence turned on, on a supported Mac. Other features already run on macOS 14. Takings does not publish AI replies; you review and use a draft yourself.
Google Play
Under “Settings → Accounts → Google Play” you can add your own service account. The connection checks report permissions, stores original reports in the archive and retrieves reviews. Google reports are not yet included in the metric tiles.
Delete data and disconnect
Under “Settings → General → Data” you can open the data folder and empty the report store. Remove connections under “Settings → Accounts” to delete the matching private keys from the Keychain. You can also revoke a key you no longer need with Apple or Google.
For a complete local clean-up: quit Takings, remove the Takings data folder you opened earlier, including reviews, archive, settings and AI drafts, and delete any remaining Takings entries in Keychain Access. Keep your own backups in mind. If you need help removing it, write to us.
